On 25 April 1974, a revolution led by young army officers ended both the Portuguese dictatorship and the colonial war.
o commemorate this date, a turning point in Portugal's recent history, the Portuguese readership of the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles) and the Association José Afonso-Brussels have joined forces to offer you an evening in three parts:
- Ms Colette Braeckman, a Belgian journalist who was in Portugal at the time will describe the course of events;
- The Portuguese students of ULB will recite poems, poems that reflect a country, first suffocated and then liberated, but also a musical moment with a performance of "Grândola Vila Morena" ;
- Anne Fievez and Pierrot Debiesme will perform songs by José Afonso and other committed authors who helped keep the spirit of resistance, freedom and brotherhood alive during the dark times of fascism and exile.
